3 Coconuts is located on the Island of Moorea in Tahiti, French Polynesia. This is one of my favorite hiking trails. It's not a very well marked trail. Fortunately, there was a race going on, so someone tied lots of pink plastic strips on the trees/bushes to follow. We followed those marks for some time. I was shocked to see some runners passing me with bare feet and no water bottle in the jungle. But we were too slow, the runners all passed us and the markers were removed. So, we got lost a few times. Normally you would need a tour guide for this hike. But, you will save well over $100 if you download this trek to your GPS here. :) The trail is very beautiful. We hiked along a meandering creek, through a wild bamboo forest and a lush tropical jungle, climbed 6 switch backs and arrived at the entrance of the mountain pass (called 3 coconuts). The view from the pass is amazing. You can see the lagoon waters on both sides of Moorea!
