 The official scenic drive for the city of San Francisco. It was originally created in 1939 for visitors to the world's fair. The original distance and name were a tribute to the gold rush of 1849 which caused San Francisco to grow. The route has changed many times over the years to account for new roads and new landmarks and to steer the visitor around traffic. So, it is no longer exactly 49 miles, but it is close. I will add waypoints to sites along the way shortly. Enjoy.
